Home for a while.

I just got back from being on the road for something like 6 weeks.

I'm going to try to get out to Wyoming next week, but I'm not positive that I'll be able to - so don't anyone get your hopes up.

Most of the hotels I've stayed at haven't had high-speed internet (because we always look for the cheapest). So I haven't posted in quite a while. It's also delayed me from setting up gentoo linux on my new Athlon64 box.

Gentoo is a pretty good distribution for people who want to customize nearly every aspect of the operating system. A good distribution for anyone wanting to learn linux may be Mandrake 10.1 Discovery. The Discovery designation means that it's for people new to linux and familiar with Windows 9x/XP.

Because I'm on the road all the time, I have a few checking accounts at a few different banks - I need to be able to make deposits and stuff wherever I am. Each bank wants $15-$20 to do a wire transfer, so in order to transfer money, I use paypal. I never cared much for paypal before because I don't use ebay or do a whole lot of online shopping (I use my check cards for that anyway). But paypal lets you add multiple bank accounts. Then you can transfer money to/from any of them. It's pretty nice, but it takes 3-4 days for each transaction.
